Why? Cos you're a good friend to someone.
Today’s Gratitude topic today is one of my favourites. As always, I would like you to carefully consider and explore everything in your life that you are in Gratitude about. Then to practice what you are discovering.
Friends.
I went definition hunting again – www.visualthesaurus.com – Friend: champion, booster, admirer, ally to name but a few. Here is the upshot – a person you know well and regard with affection and trust.
Yes, it’s time to acknowledge the people we consider to be friends and express Gratitude for their friendship. It’s also time to acknowledge yourself for being a good friend to your friends.
Some things to think about - Friends are:
• who you can turn to when times get tough and you know they “have your back”
• who get excited about your successes
• who are willing to walk the extra mile with you
• who would get up in the middle of the night to come help you change a tyre
• who love you anyway when your mood is “itchy scratchy”
• who hold the tissue box while you “blub” about a disappointment
• who tells you the truth, always. Even when it hurts, cos they know you can handle it
Yes….. those friends. The ones we don’t speak to often enough, visit often enough, touch hearts with often enough but they still love us and call us friend. And vice versa.
Heart Note:
There are some options for exercising your Gratitude muscle today:
• Write an email to your friends (not the mass mail kind or the FW kind), tell each of them why you think they are special to you; or
• Invite a friend you value for a special treat – an ice cream, a cup of coffee – whatever blows their hair back! Or
• Do something practical like, for example, pick the kids up from school so she can have an extra hour in her day to do what she wants to. And for him, maybe take Rover for his walk on Saturday morning so he can sleep in. Be creative and thoughtful – make this random act of loving your friend something they would love.
Parting shot, get creative and be filled with Gratitude. PS: Don't forget to journal!
In Gratitude
Mish
