26. Gratitude for Rest

It’s a public holiday soon. What this should mean is a rest. But public holidays don't that way. Instead I find I am on the run all day… hanging out with friends, doing fun “girl” things and then landed up doing some work in the latter part of this day. On the last public holiday I had, during my travels I saw a sticker that said “I had a life, my work ate it.” I smiled; it’s so true for so many of us. It was then I started thinking about rest and what it means to me.
Even though I was busy today, I did not follow my usual routine and so I "rested". I took the long route home today, I changed my routine and it rested me. I spent ten minutes longer that I usually do playing ball with the dogs and so I rested. I loved myself today by pampering myself and a friend and I rested. After I have written and posted this “Gratitude” I will put my computer off, and I will rest. My day was very full, but I rested.
I did "life" a little differently today and it “rested” me.

Rest is not idleness,
and to lie sometimes on the grass
under trees on a summer's day,
listening to the murmur of the water,
or watching the clouds float across the sky
is by no means a waste of time.

"Sometimes

Heart Thoughts:
  • Deep breath. Rest. Deep breath.
  • Lie on the grass and watch the clouds.
  • Do what you enjoy, even if it is busy, do it differently… and rest.
Heart Note:
Very often, just doing your chores differently and breaking your routine is a mini holiday. Drive different routes, shop in different malls, eat in a different restaurant and wear something you love but forgot about because you got something new. Be creative, even that filing can be done differently!
PS  Just for tomorrow, do it all differently. If you like the feeling, do it again.

     the most important thing
          in a whole day
  is the rest we take
      between two deep breaths."
